Real food has dirt!!

Just reading an article in one of Dr Libby’s real food kitchen cookbooks and wanted to share.

‘Decreasing the synthetic chemical load being consumed by encouraging the use of organic food’
.
.
When it comes to pesticides, it is my opinion that we are guinea pigs when it comes to long term consumption of these substances. Pesticides have to be tested before they can be used on food for human consumption however they are often tested for such a relatively brief amount of time that I do not believe we can compare tests done over a six month period versus being exposed to them for an entire lifetime.
.
.
What also cannot be tested is what happens when the chemicals are mixed and they get mixed inside our body every day when we eat conventionally grown produce.
.
.
Think about this, organic food is the true cost of food. For example, if an organic farmers broccoli 🥦 patch is invaded by snails, he can’t just use a pesticide. He has to research natural ways to get rid of them ie. a salt water spray will cause them to loose their stick and ability to suction so on his hands and knees he goes to care for his beloved broccoli crop.
.
.
The more of us who choose it, the more we are casting a vote for the kind of world we want.
.
.
In simple terms, choose organic food wherever you can.
.
.
Often people tell you they soak their conventional produce to remove pesticides, however pesticides are often fat soluble and general washing does not remove.
.
.
Pesticides typically have to be altered inside the body before they can be excreted. The liver is one organ involved in this process. It has to prioritise detoxification processes and if there are more liver loaders present than available pathways for this to occur, the pesticides are usually stored in the fatty tissue of your body.

Some herbicides can also contain compounds that can mimic oestrogen in the human body, in both males and females of all ages. For oestrogen or oestrogen like compounds to exert their effects, they have to bind to oestrogen receptors and when they do, the lovely or not so lovely effects of oestrogen are felt. Given children today are exposed to this their entire lifetime. This is scary 😢😢
